About Graf Editorial

Located in the Great Plains...

of the even greater Midwest, Graf Editorial is grounded in a wild and HISTORIC locale. Armed with its own austere beauty, the HIGH Plains calls to mind the moors of England in Brontë's masterpiece Wuthering Heights. In my youth it was here that the wind howled through the eaves of our farmhouse at night, and where I experienced a perfect rural solitude where solace and belonging could be found in the words of poets and wordsmiths. From sentinel tree-top perches to the robust mortar benches at the local library (which happens to be lovely), I could read writers both contemporary and ancient, erudite or plain-spoken. From Baum and Montgomery, to Hughes and Sedaris, literature shaped my sensibility and kindled my insight. Through written work I undertook the finespun, discerning art of cultural connection. Like the quickening spark between neurons, this connection revealed itself through the relationship between words but more profoundly as a circuitry that joins us all, person to person.

These developments helped me see the austere beauty that floods our great state. It also strengthened my bond with my community, and currently allows me to find purpose in sharing my skill with words, grammar and semantics with the people and companies that make Kansas home.
